0:00Search engines don't see your site the 0:03way people do. They rely on structure,0:05tags, and metadata to figure out what 0:08your content is about and how useful it 0:10might be to someone searching for it. In 0:13this course, we're going to look at how 0:15SEO and accessibility work together,0:17what they do behind the scenes, and how 0:19the decisions you make when designing 0:21and building your site can have a real 0:23impact on both.0:29Let's start with the basics. SEO or 0:32search engine optimization is the 0:34practice of making a website easier to 0:37find on search engines like Google. So 0:39when people search for something related 0:41to your content, your site has a better 0:43chance of showing up. We're not trying 0:45to trick search engines by doing this.0:48We're just making sure our content is 0:50easy to understand. That means things 0:52like clear page titles, clean URLs,0:56declaring headings rather than just 0:58styling them, adding descriptions to 1:00images, and having a site structure that 1:03makes sense. If search engines can 1:06understand what a site is about, they're 1:08much more likely to show it to the right 1:10people. Accessibility plays a huge role 1:14in that, too. by making our site usable 1:16for as many people as possible,1:18including those using screen readers,1:20keyboard navigation, or other assistive 1:23tools. What's great is that the 1:25improvements made to our site for 1:26accessibility, like adding all text to 1:29images, or using proper heading tags,1:31makes it easier for search engines to 1:33read and rank the site's content. SEO 1:36and accessibility are both looking for 1:39structure, clarity, and meaning. Framer 1:43does a lot of the heavy lifting when it 1:45comes to structure, but it still needs 1:47direction from us. Just because 1:49something looks like a heading or a 1:50section doesn't mean it's treated that 1:52way in the code. We have to assign 1:55meaning by tagging things properly. Once 1:58we do that, Framer takes over and 2:00outputs well ststructured semantic code 2:03that makes our content easier to read,2:06navigate, and index. Framer also gives 2:09us the tools to create breakpoints that 2:11adapt across different screen sizes, but 2:14it's still up to us to optimize our 2:16design for mobile. And since search 2:18engines prioritize mobile experiences,2:20it's worth the extra attention. With 2:23that said, Framer gives us built-in 2:25access to the tools that matter most for 2:28SEO and accessibility like metatags,2:31heading levels, image descriptions, and 2:33audio labels. But even with all that at 2:37our disposal, we still need to make 2:39thoughtful choices about how we use 2:41those tools. And that's what we're going 2:43to walk through in this course. Across 2:46the next few lessons, we'll cover how to 2:48structure our content with meaning, not 2:51just style. You'll learn how to write 2:53titles and descriptions that help your 2:54site stand out in search results, how to 2:57build more accessible experiences, and 2:59how to test everything before your site 3:02goes live.
