0:00Search engines don't see your site the0:03way people do. They rely on structure,0:05tags, and metadata to figure out what0:08your content is about and how useful it0:10might be to someone searching for it. In0:13this course, we're going to look at how0:15SEO and accessibility work together,0:17what they do behind the scenes, and how0:19the decisions you make when designing0:21and building your site can have a real0:23impact on both.0:29Let's start with the basics. SEO or0:32search engine optimization is the0:34practice of making a website easier to0:37find on search engines like Google. So0:39when people search for something related0:41to your content, your site has a better0:43chance of showing up. We're not trying0:45to trick search engines by doing this.0:48We're just making sure our content is0:50easy to understand. That means things0:52like clear page titles, clean URLs,0:56declaring headings rather than just0:58styling them, adding descriptions to1:00images, and having a site structure that1:03makes sense. If search engines can1:06understand what a site is about, they're1:08much more likely to show it to the right1:10people. Accessibility plays a huge role1:14in that, too. by making our site usable1:16for as many people as possible,1:18including those using screen readers,1:20keyboard navigation, or other assistive1:23tools. What's great is that the1:25improvements made to our site for1:26accessibility, like adding all text to1:29images, or using proper heading tags,1:31makes it easier for search engines to1:33read and rank the site's content. SEO1:36and accessibility are both looking for1:39structure, clarity, and meaning. Framer1:43does a lot of the heavy lifting when it1:45comes to structure, but it still needs1:47direction from us. Just because1:49something looks like a heading or a1:50section doesn't mean it's treated that1:52way in the code. We have to assign1:55meaning by tagging things properly. Once1:58we do that, Framer takes over and2:00outputs well ststructured semantic code2:03that makes our content easier to read,2:06navigate, and index. Framer also gives2:09us the tools to create breakpoints that2:11adapt across different screen sizes, but2:14it's still up to us to optimize our2:16design for mobile. And since search2:18engines prioritize mobile experiences,2:20it's worth the extra attention. With2:23that said, Framer gives us built-in2:25access to the tools that matter most for2:28SEO and accessibility like metatags,2:31heading levels, image descriptions, and2:33audio labels. But even with all that at2:37our disposal, we still need to make2:39thoughtful choices about how we use2:41those tools. And that's what we're going2:43to walk through in this course. Across2:46the next few lessons, we'll cover how to2:48structure our content with meaning, not2:51just style. You'll learn how to write2:53titles and descriptions that help your2:54site stand out in search results, how to2:57build more accessible experiences, and2:59how to test everything before your site3:02goes live. By the end, your framer site3:04will be more discoverable, more usable,3:07and better for everyone. All right, so3:10now that you see the big picture, let's3:12start getting into the details. I'll see3:14you in the next lesson.
