About this lesson

The June Update brings brand new Linking features to Framer. We’ve redesigned our Linking UI across the app, enabling us to add more properties like Rel. Rel attributes define the relationship between the current page and a linked page. They help with SEO, protect user privacy, and give search engines context about a link’s origin and purpose. For example, setting Rel to No Follow tells search engines not to pass SEO value, often used for untrusted links. Similarly, Sponsored marks paid or sponsored content, while U G C indicates user-generated content, like linking to comments. We’re also introducing Variable support to A11Y properties like Aria Label and Tab Index, helping you create more accessible Components. 0:00Yo, my name is Benjamin and this is the0:04linking update in Framer. We have0:07redesigned our linking UI to support0:10many more properties like real0:13parameters and tracking. The new0:16parameters property allows us to keep0:18the existing URL parameters when0:22clicking external links that might also0:24have URL parameters. Here's an example.0:28Our demo site has a UTM campaign0:31parameter. And when we now click our0:34external link, we get its parameters0:36plus the source URL parameters. In our0:40case, the UTM campaign. Great for0:43tracking external links. Next, let's0:46talk about RA. RA attributes define the0:50relationship between the current page0:52and a linked page. They help with SEO,0:56protect user privacy, and give search0:59engines context about a link's origin1:03and purpose. Here's how they work in1:06Framer. I'll select my button here, go1:09to the link panel, and let's pretend1:12this is a sponsored Amazon link. I'll1:15simply add the rail attribute set to1:19sponsored. And that's all there is to1:22it. We can also add multiple rail1:25attributes to a single link. If this1:28were a link to a comment thread, for1:31example, we could set re to both UGC and1:35no follow. This tells the browser we're1:38linking to user generated content, and1:41it tells Google not to associate our1:44site with the linked page. And all of1:46these new properties have been added to1:49the CMS as well, making linking in1:53Framer more powerful across the board.1:57And that's pretty much it for this1:59video. We hope you enjoy these new2:01linking updates. And as always, stay2:04tuned for more updates coming soon.
