About this lesson

The August Update introduces a new app icon for our Desktop app and completely redesigned menus throughout the app, adding search and scrolling. Our previous menus would often nest, quickly taking over your screen and being quick to dismiss, especially on larger projects. This wasn’t great, we heard you—this release aims to fix these issues. Menus can now be scrolled, and you can filter any menu just by typing. This works for any menu, from the main menu to any context menu, making things like assigning Variables in larger projects much faster. https://framer.com/updates/august-update-2024

0:00yo my name is Benjamin and this is the 0:04August update we have redesigned all 0:07menus in framer adding search scrolling 0:10and full support for keyboard navigation 0:13with any menu open like the main menu I 0:17opened here I can just start typing to 0:20filter the menu and quickly find what 0:23I'm looking for and I can now even use 0:26the arrow keys on my keyboard to 0:28navigate this men menu greatly reducing 0:31Mouse travel especially in larger menus 0:35search is also available in contextual 0:37menus allowing you to quickly find key 0:40actions like the ability to copy a style 0:44so actions living in submenus are also 0:47included in the search results or 0:49another example is using search to find 0:52actions like overflow and again I can 0:55navigate this menu using only my arrow 0:58keys and for menus with many items or 1:02when using smaller screens we're adding 1:05scrolling this combined with search 1:08helps avoid the endless nested menus you 1:11could run into before which could 1:13quickly end up looking a little bit like 1:16this these were hard to navigate and 1:18could take over your entire screen with 1:22search and scrolling these menus become 1:25much more manageable no more nesting 1:28just type to search 1:30and you're all set that's it for this 1:33video thank you so much for watching and 1:37stay tuned for more updates coming soon
