About this lesson

The Quick Actions menu now makes it a breeze to add components to your site. Simply press ⌘K on macOS or ⌃K on Windows, type the name of the component you want to insert, and hit Enter. This new feature makes it even faster to work on larger sites in Framer.

0:00yo my name is Benjamin and in this video 0:03I'd like to cover an update to the quick 0:06actions menu in framer you can now also 0:09insert components directly from this 0:12menu which is especially useful within 0:14larger projects as a refresher you can 0:17also use this menu for specific actions 0:20or to quickly navigate around your own 0:22project I can bring it up with command k 0:26type a slash and then use the arrow keys 0:28to select a page and starting today I 0:32can also now use this menu to quickly 0:35insert components either on the canvas 0:37or directly on my page let's have a look 0:41for example let me quickly grab the 0:43about guard 0:45I'll hit enter to add it onto the canvas 0:48and then I can put it next to my desktop 0:51breakpoint keeping it here can be useful 0:54for later reference or to later add it 0:57to a carousel ticker or slideshow and 1:00yes we can also still use this menu to 1:04actually edit the component so if I hit 1:07enter this brings me onto the component 1:10canvas where I could add variants and 1:12more let me jump back to the home page 1:16and let's take a look at how we can 1:19insert components directly onto our 1:21layouts so here we have a simple 1:24collection list and a horizontal stack 1:28within it with the stack selected I'll 1:31bring up the quick actions menu 1:34I'll type link and I can now add any of 1:37the links within my project I'll select 1:39the one with the arrow and just like 1:42that it gets added onto our stack this 1:45makes it very easy to quickly add 1:48components to your existing layouts 1:51in larger projects your assets panel 1:54might look a little something like this 1:56a long list of components where it can 2:00be hard to find the right one or you 2:03might not want to switch to the assets 2:05panel at all you might have the layers 2:08panel open and want to stay focused on 2:10your layout design 2:12this is exactly why we added the ability 2:15to insert components directly from the 2:17quick actions menu making it much easier 2:21to find and quickly add components onto 2:24your page I can also type in the action 2:27keyword in this case insert to get a 2:30list of all insertable components and I 2:33can do the same thing for the edit 2:35action using this method we can also 2:38find the about card that we inserted 2:41earlier on to quickly jump back to its 2:44component canvas and that's pretty much 2:47it for this update video thank you so 2:50much for watching and stay tuned for 2:53more updates coming soon 3:02foreign
