Framer Update: Localized Page Paths

About this lesson

Starting today, Framer lets you translate paths for any page on your site, not just CMS content. This creates a smoother experience for visitors browsing in their language, and helps search engines index translated content more accurately. In the Localization view, from Settings, you can now enable Translate Page Paths. If you were already translating blog slugs, it will be on by default. There’s also an additional checkbox to include paths in AI translations. Once enabled, page paths appear under the page headers in the Localization view, together with all other translations. They can also be translated directly from the canvas, where you normally rename all your pages: when your project includes multiple languages, the page panel displays a new locale switcher at the top, so you can easily rename each page per locale. After publishing, switching locale updates the page path automatically, and built in conflict warnings help prevent overlaps.

Translating them creates a 0:18smoother experience for people that are 0:20browsing in their own language and it 0:22also greatly helps search engines in 0:25finding your localized content. Let me 0:28show you how to do it in Framer. In the 0:30localization view, click settings, which 0:32now groups all localization preferences,0:36and enable translate page paths. If you 0:39were already translating blog [music]0:41slugs, you&#39;ll find this enabled by 0:44default. And there is also an additional 0:46setting to include paths when 0:48translating with AI. On save, you&#39;ll 0:50notice that the paths are appearing in 0:53localization table. But you can also 0:55translate them directly from the canvas.0:58Let me show you how. If you head to the 1:01page panel, you&#39;ll notice a new control 1:03to switch locale from. Let me pick the 1:06Italian one. And while viewing this 1:09locale, if I go to a page and right 1:12click, I can rename in Italian. So I&#39;m 1:16going to fill in Lavora Conoi. Then I&#39;m 1:19going to switch to the Dutch locale and 1:22update that as well. And I&#39;m going to 1:26switch to the Spanish one and do M 1:29playos. Let me quickly switch to the 1:32English default. And if I head to the 1:35publish button to update my site and 1:39visit the link, I can now switch locale 1:43from English to Italian. And you&#39;ll see 1:45that the URL updates with the translated 1:48path. And the same applies for the Dutch 1:51locale and the Spanish one. There it is.1:56As an extra detail, we also made sure to 1:59let you know if you or your translators 2:02accidentally create page conflicts,2:04making this extra safe for everyone to 2:07use.
