About this lesson

This update introduces Workspaces, together with a comprehensive overhaul of the dashboard’s topbar and sidebar. The currently selected workspace is now prominently displayed at the top left corner. From there, you can effortlessly access a menu showing your active workspaces, along with their respective plans, as well as any workspaces you’ve been invited as a guest. Furthermore, we’ve streamlined the visibility of essential menu items such as Account, Settings, Updates, and Community and combined it with a redesign of all the dashboard modals. Additionally, the right side of the top bar now conveniently showcases the total number of members within a workspace, accompanied by a button for inviting others. Lastly, thanks to performing some technical improvements to the Search functionality, you can now enjoy faster, more efficient searches, seamlessly accessing projects from all of your workspaces simultaneously — an improvement inspired by feedback from the Community.

0:00hi everyone this is Ado from framer and 0:03today I want to show you some changes we 0:05made to the dashboard with the 0:06introduction of work spaces up until 0:10recently in framer you could form thems 0:13they were not too flexible and used to 0:15stack up in the dashboard sidebar taking 0:17a lot of extra space we took the 0:20opportunity to start from a clean slate 0:23first thing we added the currently 0:25selected workspace on the top left 0:28similarly to other productivity tool to 0:30like slack and notion that's also where 0:32you can switch between spaces and see 0:35which plan they're currently on if 0:38someone invites you as a guest to edit a 0:40project in their own space that will now 0:43show under guest 0:45workspaces and of course you can add a 0:48new workspace at any 0:50moment in the sidebar we took the 0:53opportunity to improve the visibility of 0:55some menu items like account settings 0:59update and Community then we focus the 1:03rest of the sidebar around your projects 1:05and their folders this comes with 1:08redesign models as well including a 1:10better way to switch among workspace and 1:13organization settings having a workspace 1:17pre-selected means you no longer have to 1:19pick one every time you start a new 1:21project and you can easily see how many 1:24members are part of it and potentially 1:27invite 1:28others while testing with the community 1:31someone shared that it was hard to find 1:33a certain project if search would show 1:35results only from the currently active 1:38workspace so we updated it and now when 1:41you search something frer will show 1:43result across all of your workspaces by 1:46default this should now feel much better 1:49and as a bonus search was made more 1:51performant as well we hope these changes 1:55make working with framer more efficient 1:57let us know what you think and happy 1:59building
