About this lesson

The January Update brings improvements to the Rows and Columns Stack presets, adds a Video tool to the Layout Menu, improves the Gap and Padding controls, and more. You can now hit ⇧V to quickly add new Videos to your pages, with full control over the dimensions. The Stack tool got a little smarter too, and now automatically groups when dragged over existing layers. Plus, customizing spacing within Stacks has never been easier with our improved Gap and Padding controls. 0:00yo my name is Benjamin and in this video 0:03I'll highlight what's new in the January 0:06update starting with our layout tools 0:09I'll select rows one of the stack 0:12presets if I draw this on an empty part 0:15of the page I get two frames by default 0:19and the same is true for the columns 0:21preset I get a horizontal stack with two 0:26frames if I were to select columns again 0:29and it on top of these existing layers 0:33fully containing them the stack tool is 0:36now smart enough to wrap around these 0:38existing layers making these presets 0:41useful for more than just designing from 0:43scratch we've also updated the Gap and 0:46padding controls you get on the canvas 0:49on Hover the Gap areas are now made 0:52visible the tool tips are now tinted as 0:55an extra visual indicator and these 0:58controls no longer hide height when Gap 1:00is set to zero so you can now fully 1:03control your spacing from the canvas and 1:05all of these updates also apply to our 1:08padding controls I'll quickly make this 1:11an auto sizing layer and then I can 1:14simply start dragging the padding 1:16handles to add some padding and holding 1:19shift distributes it equally across all 1:23sides combined we believe these changes 1:26make stacks more flexible in daily use 1:30finally let's talk about the new video 1:33shortcut we added to the layout menu as 1:35well you can find it here right below 1:38image and when selected I can click and 1:41drag anywhere to add a video to my page 1:44at my specified size so if I now give 1:48this a preview you can see we have an 1:50autop playing video here that we could 1:53then further customize through the 1:55property panel this makes it easier than 1:58ever to add videos to your sites the 2:01January update includes many bug fixes 2:04as well one in particular I would like 2:07to highlight if I add an appear effect 2:10to this video here I can now right click 2:13anywhere on the property to either copy 2:16paste or remove it and this will work 2:18for any property for everything else be 2:21sure to check framer dcom updates thank 2:25you so much for watching and please stay 2:27tuned for more updates coming 2:35soon
